A new business with no name online
Joe, a Wiltshire marine engineer, was setting up a new business from scratch: fuel polishing, which means filtering the diesel in fuel tanks to keep it clean. (We hadn’t heard of it before either.)
He had no website, no logo and no domain name, and no firm idea of what he wanted. What he did need was for new customers to take the business seriously from the start.
A startup has to look established before it is.
A name, a logo and a website, fast
Domain name and logo
We started by finding a suitable domain name, then moved on to the logo. We suggested a teal shade to echo the blue shimmer of diesel on water, with a bug inside a water drop. He liked it straight away.

Website
Once Joe had sent over his text and images, we designed and built the WordPress website, with a small set of plugins for design, speed and security, and based the whole look on the logo colours.
- A single main page that explains the service clearly, plus a separate contact page
- A first draft after a few hours’ work, which he approved without asking for a single change
- Built for speed from the start: it’s one of the sites we use to show clients what a fast WordPress site looks like
SEO from the start
Joe didn’t ask for SEO, but we built it in anyway, as we do with every site. It takes very little extra time to do it right at the start, and it means that if he wants to push for more search traffic later with an SEO campaign, the work can start straight away instead of fixing problems first.
A credible business from day one
JC Fuel Polishing launched with a professional brand and a proper website to send new customers to, and we’ve grown the site alongside the business as it found its feet.
